Nursery Rhyme Week

Lesson: Literacy

Class: Ladybirds and Butterflies Year: 2019 - 2020

Ladybirds and Butterflies took part in World Nursery Rhyme Week. Nursery rhymes play an important role in early childhood development and education. As well as being fun, they also boost vocabulary and language development. They help children to develop literacy skills, they are a fun way to support early numeracy skills and they help children develop social, physical and emotional skills.

During the week we learnt a rhyme a day. We sang the rhyme and took part in lots of fun activities to support learning. Thank you to all the parents too for the fantastic response to the home learning task.

“If children know 8 nursery rhymes by the time they are 4 years old, they are usually among the best readers and spellers in their class by the time they are 8” (Megan Fox, Reading Magic).
