Borwick Hall

Lesson: Learning Outside the Classroom

Class: Eager Beavers Year: 2023 - 2024

Our Eager Beavers had a fabulous time on their recent residential trip to Borwick Hall. The children were great representatives for our school demonstrating not only excellent behaviour but also team work and resilience. The children were amazing at encouraging one another to keep going and to push themselves when trying new activities.

Day 1 we enjoyed a tour of the site and the first challenge... MAKING BEDS! Parents, they've all done this now so that saves you all a job at home. After we were settled in our rooms, the children had their first afternoon of outdoor activities. The first set of activities were climbing, bouldering and caving. We were amazed at how brave the children were and at how many reached the top of the climbing wall!

In the evening, we had a lovely meal in the dining room then had a party to celebrate two birthdays. The children enjoyed party games and dancing then eventually quietened down for the evening at 9pm. By 10.30pm they were all tucked up asleep in bed.

Friday morning we had a lovely breakfast, packed up our things, stripped the beds then headed off for a morning of activities. For the morning, the whole class stayed together and had a fun session on the canal. The children learnt how to lash the canoes together to make rafts then we enjoyed getting used to paddling and steering. Then followed some fun games and singing. Although the rain was falling it didn't dampen our spirits and we all had a fabulous time.

Back at the hall we had a quick lunch and review of our time at Borwick before heading home.
