Welcome to Ladybirds and Butterflies

Our class teacher is Mrs Lyon and our teaching assistants are Mrs Wood, Mrs Parkinson and Miss Rawsthorne. 

This is a mixed age class. Our Nursery children are Ladybirds and Reception are Butterflies.

Children of this age follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which involves the following:

Learning is through focused play

Learning outdoors in own teaching area

Forest School

Positive ethos. 

Phonics

In EYFS, we follow the Lancashire Red Rose Phonics scheme. We have reading books for home, which supports our phonics development as they include the sounds we are learning in class. We recommend the children read little and often at home to develop their confidence and reading. To encourage their love of reading, our children are invited to select a 'Reading for Pleasure' book from our wide selection of stories to read with their adults at home.

Our Nursery class our currently learning Phase 1 Phonics.

Our Reception class have worked so hard during the Autumn term learning Phase 2. We are currently learning Phase 3 Phonics in class.

We recognise for our Parents/Guardians we didn't learn Phonics at school ourselves, so it can be a challenging process. If you would like a copy of the PowerPoint from our 'Phonics Information Evening', Mrs Lyon can send one to you.
